Lady Sings the Blues(1972)- User Reviews

The life and death of Billie Holliday was an interesting tale that I knew the basics of but not any details. And this story seemed to reinforce this, but not really add anything out of the ordinary except her beginnings. The acting in it was pretty good and the characters seemed to react really well to each other. The expressions in regards to dramatic situations weren't anything the write home about. There was nothing flashy about this film that would cause me to remember this many years from now as it served primarily to be a biography of Billie Holliday with famous actors rather than snapshots of her actual life. The cinematography for the cut scenes that did show true still pictures were decent but again, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, this was a pretty mediocre film with not much flash nor heart.
