This film definitely deserved it's five academy awards. Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep are young and are as amazing then as they are now. This is the hardship of divorce story that every other story is based off of. It really is a happy film despite it's sad patches. Dustin Hoffman plays Mr. Kramer, a man that works way to hard but loves his family very much. Meryl Streep plays Mrs. Kramer, a woman fed up with her husband working nonstop and believes that she is unfit mother. She leaves their son in Mr. Kramer's care and leaves him. The film title has a duel meaning. The first obvious meaning is Mr. Kramer vs. Mrs. Kramer over custody of their child. The second is Mr. Kramer vs himself. He has to change his life from the workaholic to taking care of the most important person in the world to him. His son. This inward battle between work and his son starts out hard but as the story develops his son wins the battle. You will be on Hoffman's side the whole time and will hate Streep for her brilliant performance.
