I think a lot of things said or done in the movie were not needed. I just watched the DVD extended edition so maybe it was different than the original released. To me this movie dragged out a lot of things making more out of something that it was needed. …more»

So I don't know why they cut out all of the footage that was restored in the Director's Cut but I'm guessing its because the stuido wanted to make this a "summer film" and didn't want it to be too long.

It would be hard for me to avoid comparing Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator since both were created by the same director. I felt that any film following Gladiator would have a hard time eclipsing it. KOH just didn't have the same appeal.
