The Original 16 & Pregnant

star44

How can a story about a teenage pregnancy be funny, sarcastic, and down right witty? Well Diablo Cody (Oscar Winner for Best Original Screenplay for this movie) found a way and ran all the way with it in this upbeat and witty coming of age movie. Juno follows a witty, sarcastic, snarky 16 year old girl(Perfectly and a well deserved Oscar Nominated Ellen Page)Juno MacGuff. Juno is first shown finding out that indeed she is pregnant by her her "Best Pal" Paulie Bleeker (Awkwardly but suprisingly funny Michael Cera) who is the last guy that would look like to ever im-pregnant any girl. Along this ride Juno has her best friend Leah (A very sassy Olivia Thirlby) who coincidently likes teachers? yes thats one of the many dark humor that this movie depicts. In this whole awkward debauchary we also see when Juno tells her father Mac (A very level headed character played by JK Simmons) and her dog obssesed step mother Brenda (A very comical Allison Janney). But before the duo decide to "Get It Over With" they find the adopted parents in the PENNY SAVER?! yeah you read correctly! The Up tight very succesfull couple Marc (A delightful and suprisingly good Jason Bateman) and Vanessa( A Beautiful but very Cautious Jennifer Garner). The first time we meet this couple you could sense the whole atmosphere as forced and very distant. Which is where the story begins to dip in the drama pool. The movie takes a break from the dark humor and becomes serious. When it does decide to become serious it becomes very geniune and very sincere. Juno is a bright and delightful movie that has a message of "Dont Try to Grow Up to Fast". The Movie has VERY VERY witty dialouge coming from the teenage characters which makes this movie even more unique as it is. Juno is the most suprising movie of the year and it definately does make you think twice on how this new generation works. Juno is an excellent movie that will defiantely be stuck in your head but in reality you wont mind because thats how great this movie is.
