I can't say that I would encourage anyone to spend the ticket costs to see this movie when we have so many other movies coming out this year that are 'must sees', however you aren't going to get the whole experience on a little TV screen when it comes out on DVD. The storyline was good, but not great, to be more specific, the ending leaves you hanging a little too much and doesn't quite give you that warm cozy feeling that everything turned out okay. The acting was good, Ewan was able to go from serious to comic relief seamlessly and Bill's presence can't be denied even if it's just his voice. I see a bright future for Nick Hoult too, he did a good job going up against very experienced actors and holding his own. There was a little lacking in the character development though, it would have been worth it to spend a few extra minutes developing a connection with the other characters (instead of just Jack and Isabelle.) Overall I would give it a B, the effects were excellent and I enjoyed the action just as much as my 8 year old son.
