Jack the Giant Slayer(2013)- User Reviews

I have to hold off on 'Oz'- it just looks too formulaic in the CGI age of gigantic-transmorphing-zombie-robot-vampire-stimuli sapping 'action' movies. Where everything is a big, dumb re-make of Spiderman, Transforming machinery, or more undying denizens of digital demonology this movie is awesomely visualized, and very smoothly rendered. As a 50+ guy, who still gotta get my Hulk, and Ironman, but tired of the usual Hollywood quick moving bombastic CGI as the stars, these CGI Giants really are CGI Stars. It is a quiet movie, until the giants show up. Every grimy, gooey, gassy, gross, gargantuan sound Giants make are audaciously,audibal.The giants were so well fleshed out, you all but smell 'em.

'Oz' has already been reviewed as 'not the Wizard Of Oz, and it knows it', and Jack and the Beanstalk hasn't seen the light of a CGI day.in just the bits of 'Oz The Great and Profitable' looks like the standard green screen acting, and cartoonishly cute, but ain't got jack on this giant slayer.
The action is fast ,and the eyepopping visuals are stunning.
I admit, I had to pop the ear plugs in and out- the quiet scenes were REALLY quiet, and then da big badda 'BOOMS", so some dialogue was muddled, but the story didn't wander like The Grinch meets a Who!
I can wait for Oz, but you should RUSH to this THIS GIANT satisfier on a BIG screen. I am so glad I didn't see it in 3-D.
I don't take the time to review many movies- I am not dazzled by CGI abuse.
How Burt Wonderstone can beat this at the box office is a mystery to me, but ,hey; Barack got voted for a second term, so....
