Jack Reacher- User Reviews

I went to this movie after having read ALL Lee Child books and short stories on Jack Reacher. Only big money could have cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Ironically, previews of an upcoming SciFi movie starring Tom Cruise was shown prior to the Jack Reacher movie. When Jack Reacher ran, I laughed because most of Tom Cruise's facial and body expressions were identical to the preview of the SciFi movie. Tom Cruise is the same person in all of his movies - whether it is SciFi or the Mission Impossible movies. In my opinion, there were only two movies in which he stood out - Top Gun and A Few Good Men. In both of these movies, he was good, but the plots were decent and he was surrounded by outstanding casts.

In no way does he do well as Jack Reacher. He is laughable when approached by the five guys outside the bar and his scene with the female lawyer when she notices the knot on his head and the blood on his shirt and he said "you don't want to know" was totally unbelievable.

If Lee Child was expecting a franchise movie like: Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Mission Impossible, he should have held out for better casting for the lead role. At the least he should have picked someone much taller or a less pretty face. Come on, in the books, Jack Reacher was not pretty and his size and rough looks were the factors that intimidated people.
