This was a passably good film, but I would have enjoyed it so much more if I hadn't realized almost from the outset what the basic premise of the film was going to be.
The concept of the allegedly random shootings of the five victims is a straight 'steal' (presumably inadvertently by the author) from an Agatha Christie novel written way back in 1936.
The acting too is a bit 'flakey' in parts; even the supposed frisson between Cruise and Pike seemed a bit contrived at times, and throughout the film there were always occasions when it came across as just that - acting.
I think Tom Cruise has done some good stuff, but this was not one of his better films. He played Jack Reacher too laconically for my liking. He should have chosen an actor more suited to the role and settled for producing some good work from behind the cameras himself. I think he could then really have 'nailed it'.
