Went to see this movie last night at the $2 theater where movies go after their initial release hoopla is over. Didn't know much about it, haven't read any of the books the other reviews mention. I thought the female lead was horribly miscast. She came off like a piece of cardboard but maybe that was to make Tom Cruise look like a competent actor in comparison. There were lots of gun fights and car chases and of course the straight from central casting thugs. Some of the dialog was laugh out loud funny and the central bad guy commanding someone to chew off his own fingers came off really tepid and uninspired. Stupid, really. Tom doesn't have the gravitas to pull off the alluring loner character the way an actor with more acting chops could pull off. Tom was smirky and some of the scenes like the Goodwill scene where the cashier who was 30 years younger than Tom is is swooning over him are downright laughable. Movie was silly and boring and I got up and walked out after yet another extended gun scene started.
