I read all the reviews for this movie before, grudgingly, deciding to go see this today. I was sure that I was going to hate it because, after all, everyone said how bad it is. I saw it with my 18 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter and we howled with laughter through much of the movie. I have to wonder if the people giving the bad reviews have ever seen an Adam Sandler movie before and if they even like him as an actor. Because if you liked Water Boy, Happy Gilmore and Zohan, you'll like this movie. Was his voice annoying as "Jill", yes, it was but that was the point, for Jill to be annoying. Loved Al Pacino and the many cameos by other stars (Johnny Depp!). Very little sexual content or bad language to worry about but it is not for very young children (which the PG -13 rating is there for). Katie Holmes and the children are almost incidental to the movie but they are not the stars anyway. Most of the people in the theatre seemed to be enjoying the movie and were laughing loudly. Is it an Oscar winning film? Of course not. But it is entertaining and that's what I go to movies for, to be entertained. Give it a chance.
