I just watched this movie and I feel obligated to write this review because all the other reviews that I've read so far have been an "A" grade or better.
First of all, know going into the movie that "It Might Get Loud" is a DOCUMENTARY. If it were shown on PBS or on television any time, it would be a must-see. But because it is a documentary, it lacks the excitement for a segment of the audience that wants a great story. So the story isn't great but it is memorable: B+.
Also this movie involves real people who are Rock Star guitarists, and a few other people, and includes footage from all 3 people's bands, Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes & Raconteurs, and U2; however, because it involves real people, how do you grade the acting? They're not really "acting," but they're telling their story, so again, not oscar-worthy, but memorable. I enjoyed watching Jimmy Page talk about his influences and they did follow each of these guys around in their home elements of England, Ireland and Tennessee: B+.
The Direction was very good for a documentary, although it would have been nice for there to be a bit more detail about Jimmy's Les Pauls, Edge's Effects units, or Jack's instruments, but overall the Director did a great job capturing the environments these guys came out of. Memorable: B+
The visuals were memorable, as well, the shots of the hands of the masters at work on the fretboards was wonderful, as was the various environments they were in. B+.
So the film Earns a B+. But if you hate Rock n Roll, you should probably wait until it shows on TV.
