Invincible is a Classic Hollywood sports-underdog movie, based on the true story of Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg) who gets to chance to play American Football for the struggling Philadelphia Eagles, having never played one minute of in college or as a pro.

I am sucket for sports-underdog movies. This movie is another decent movie to add to the list. The movie starts with Papale (Wahlberg is reasonable in the role), a 30-year-old teacher/bartender, losing his part time teaching job and his wife. His only joy is playing American Football with buddies in a working class neighborhood of South Philadelphia in 1976 (stangely, in all my time in US, I have seen lots of Adults play soccer, even Rugby and Cricket, but never once American Football). Coach Vermeil is a new coach (very nicely played by Greg Kinnear) who takes over the Philadelphia Eagles. As a publicity stunt he invites fans to tryout. The rest of the movie is about Papale's determination to make the most of his last chance.

This is a well-made movie that has some heart, and is definitely worth a watch. Unfortunately, it never quite makes it to the level of inspiring.
