When Eric and his sister leave Hong Kong for Canada with their parents, they think they're just visiting their family there. It's only after they arrive in Toronto that they find out the move is permanent. Uprooted, Eric must adjust to a new life in a new city--and deal with his emerging sexuality. Crushes on his attractive cousin, Chris, and his cute classmate, Jim, lead to painful lessons, but he finds a mentor in Larry, an older man who picks him up on the street. But even as Eric is discovering his identity, the rest of his family is falling apart, finding it equally hard to be immigrants in a new country.
