While not as clever with dialogue as his plays (The Cripple of Inishmaan or The Pillowman), Martin McDonagh truly has a talent for spinning a yarn. Just when you believe the story might slip in the sentimental, you're abruptly punched in the stomach. Great writing meets great acting.
