This years Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film, the Danish film In A Better World raises the question...can we ever escape "bullies"(prevalent in the news right now) in every walk, and aspect of life. There are political, social, familial, and even deceased bullies on display here, and they do indeed have profound effects on those who have the misfortune of interacting and being affected by them. Suzanne Bier, Denmark's premier film maker explores this subject, maybe a bit too throughly. The point is driven home about 10 times througout the course of the story in ways mentioned above. A lighter touch may have drawn audiences into the story more, although the acting and cinematography were very good. Maybe not the "best" foreign language film of 2010, but certainly a timely one.
