Every once in a while a movie will come along that tells a story that has a lasting effect on a person. These movies cut to the heart and keep a person dwelling on that story for days and weeks. The Impossible is one of those movies. I can really only think of a handful in my lifetime that I would categorize as this type of movie. I cannot recommend this movie enough, however, I don't recommend it for smaller children. My 9 and 12 year old watched this with my wife and I. She, my 9 year old, liked the movie, but was disturbed by it at times. My son said it was the best movie he's seen since the Avengers (hey its from a 12 year old's point of view).
It has made its run through theaters by now, but when it comes out on DVD/BluRay, make a point to get it.
I truly think this movie should have received more Oscar nominations. I've seen Lincoln (amazing), Argo, and Silver Linings. Lincoln is the only one I would say is as good or better than The Impossible. The others while good movies, just didn't seem to tell their story as well as this.
