I am in awe it has taken this long for a film maker to explore the after effects of the 2004 Asian Tsunami which killed nearly a quarter of a million people. The trailer gives away the outcome for the family depicted in this film, but their plight is no less compelling. As you watch the horrific events unfold on screen one has to wonder, what would you do in this situation?
The actors, even the children do an amazing job in this film capturing the raw emotion of the utter panic, hopelessness, pain and fear anyone would feel in that situation. Their story of survival is miraculous and worthy of telling and this film does a great job of capturing their story. The special effects are incredible...the story doesn't move as quickly as some might like, but it allows you to feel what the people might have felt as they struggle to survive.
I left the movie feeling compassion for my fellow men who have been devastated such as these people were with a renewed sense of urgency to reach out to others in need.
