What happened to my Good Fellow Scorcese?

star11

Jeezus! I've had it with this dude! Goodfellows? Yeah. Casino? double yeah! And then Gangs of New York, overblown piece of crap, but cleaning up at the Academy Awards? I mean I understand this guy is Hollywood royalty, he's been persistent if nothing else, but I am getting gun-shy going to see his movies. But then he makes Boardwalk Empire, so I forgive him again. Then today I am sitting through 206 minutes of Hugo, and right about into the first 40 minutes I want to throttle the guy or get my money back. Was this supposed to be heartwarming or slapstick, or what? I don't get it. And what was it with that train obsession? Three times coming at full throttle into the station? Trains don't do that. Don't they have production managers calling him on this crap? Or does nobody dare to speak up to him? Ok, I admit the best part was the speech in honor of George Méliès and the early celluloid movie making days, which would have been a great 10 minute documentary. Hey, there is an idea for Martin Scorcese, make documentaries and quit going going all poetic on me. Next time he makes a movie I am going to read ALL the critiques. Anyway, Hugo blows! ... in my humble opinion. Grrrr!

The cinematography was brilliant but the story didn't quite pan out in my opinion. **spoiler alert** .. I was hoping something magical happened when the automaton was finally restored and working. But nothing truly great happened.

Yes, that was definately Johnny Depp. I thought so at first, but wasn't sure. The second tme I saw him it was positive. I am a Johnny Depp fan that goes way back to movies like Benny and Joon. You can not miss that beautiful, manly, sexy, face. I CHALLENGE Johnny Depp himself to say that was not him as a musician in the cafe. And if it is no my Johnny, then who is it!!!

I agree, I only stayed because I was waiting for some great suprise or magical twist that never happened. but you got to give it some credit for the attention to detail and quality. I wish I had read more user reviews. this was just a hollywood plug to inspire a desperate industry.

This movie was just awful #$%$ The only reason why it had Oscar nominations is because os the self-gratification of Hollywood. Any movie that glorifies the movie industry (or has a hint of the Holocaust in it) will receive Oscar nominations.

Yeah, I forgot about the magical moving key on the tracks. And the train speed? Have you ever parked the car in your garage at 50 mph? Me neither. I also think Sacha Baron Cohen and the Doberman stole the show. #$%$ this movie made me mad.

You sum'd up a great movie pretty well except for the rate you gave it. I rate it higher and a little more magical.

Agree, this was a boring waste of money. Would write a review but can't find 400 charterers worth of comments.

How can someone give a movie review with only seeing the trailer? You can not go by what your friends say about the film! They probably never seen it either! The BOOOOOO review is bogus!

I was disappointed with this movie. I had been looking forward to seeing it because of all the expectations through the media. At first I thought that it was a magical children's film but as it progressed it became long and boring. The special effects were excellent as was the acting but it just wasn't Academy Award material.
It was interesting that as it supposedly took place in Paris most actors had English accents. I would not want to see this again but I did struggle through it.
