Certainly it's an homage to the magic of filmmaking. It's depth is absolutely amazing...so many messages of bringing meaning to one's life. The story arc was so emotionally and beautifully told.Sasha Baron Cohen is adept at slapstick, sure, but Ben Kingsley is a wonder as the magician turned filmmaker who went broke after WWI. Asa Butterfield as the wide-eyed child left to keep the clocks running in a Paris train station is the gentle driving force who lost his father. The automaton that symbolized inspiration and wonder is a thread that ties it all together. This is a wonderful, thoughtful movie, while unlocking the secrets of life, magic, inspiration, and the inner workings how the world should work and bring meaning to life, this is a joy to see.
