Where are the writers in Hollywood? What are they thinking? We are 72 and 74 and were so "uncomfortable" watching this drama. There was no comedy in it -- all way too serious. We have a great relationship. We sleep in the same bed, touch, have feelings, hold hands on the sofa, and tease with humor -- we relate to each other and we "talk". This couple led themselves down the wrong path to begin with into TOTAL SEPARATION. Shame on them. Tommy Lee Jones was presented as a domineering #$%$ and she a mentally abused lonely suffering woman. Going to a "fixer" was incredibly uncomfortable for a movie.,...slow and boring to sit there and listen/watch. Were is Carel in this? (mis-cast). He never even suggested they sit closer together! You can't make a movie about people's personal emotions/indifferences or problems.

And after all those years, you can't just dive into a sex scene.

Incredible. It has to be eased into... Leave the sex alone in the movies!! In defense .. this couple came up through an age not of free open sex before marriage, not experimenting. So what is so wrong with that? What a waste of time this movie was and thank goodness we did not have to sit through it in a THEATRE watching / squirming through it. I think we would have left. We did a rental instead and had high hopes for this flick - A DUD! Earned an F.- "Rotten Tomatoes" for sure....
