Pros: good musical score by veteran Hans Zimmer, good special effects, decent editing and good sound editing, fast-paced, attention to detail.
Cons: a questionable script with modern day slang seeming out of place in a movie set in a recent past century; only fair acting, very gory, a bit unbelieveable (Hansel & Gretel take a continuous beating but don't seem to suffer much from it).
Generally quite good entertainment with a very new take on an old fable.
