For your information, the classic cars were stunt cars that were prefabricated before the movie got underway. They were not real cars. i don't think it's Quintin Tarantino that is short on brains. You went to see the movie and purchased the ticket, therefore you should think twice before you call anyone stupid.

Larry V, I'm sorry you felt that way, but you spent the ticket and now you'll never get your refund. I feel that when you watched the movie, you never had real high expectations to begin with. It's obvious that the performances were bad, in the 1970's exploitation films were a big thing at the time. And yes the acting was bad, the humor was cheesy and situations were implausible. I felt you may have took the film way too seriously. And as for the little action, you must have felt impatient for it so right away you dismissed the entire movie. Mr. Tarantino did not stole two hours from you, you lost it on your own.

Of course it's stupid December, they're grind house movies. The purpose of these kind of movies is to deliberately be awful and you shouldn't have taken it seriously. This is not a new format in cinema. It's actually a old idea that was awoken from it's overlong nap by directors Quintin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Rose McGowan was a nice added bonus as she was in both the double feature as she was kick #$%$ as stripper Cherry Darling and in Death Proof an unfortunate victim at the hands of a vicious Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike in Death Proof. These kind of movies started out in the 1960's and has continued until the 1970's. You should ask your parents about it. they would likely know.

Anna, both movies are fun and scary but overall a very stimulating double-feature. There is no doubt in my that the action and suspense will linger in your memory bank for a long time to come. I'm glad you kept your praise short but to the point. Sure the action was violent and gory, but it was never short on entertainment. just the way Quintin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez delivers.

Buddy, your ranting brings a crocodile tear to my eyes. Since you're not a fan of Tarantino I must ask you, why the hell did you see Death Proof to begin with? You could've done something more productive to occupy your time. Just because your spirits are down, doesn't mean you have to take people down with you. Just say to yourself you'll never see another Tarantino film for as long as you'll live.

Jay, I hope at Perth College, you're not majoring in English Literature. And another thing, you have no business making fun of people who like Quintin Tarantino. If you despise him, then that's your problem. You're rant should not even be looked at or even read for that matter. It offers no information as to why Death Proof is bad. It's just you bad-mouthing Quintin Tarantino and his barrage of disciples.

RobbedbyProcare, why did you even bother to write a review that you walked out on? It doesn't make any sense that you blindly dissected a film you left after 30 minutes. You seem to enjoy wasting your money on a movie you never intended to watch. next time you write a review, stay through the whole show before you start making judgements about it. Okay?

Jeep4x4, I'm happy that you really enjoyed the movies so much. They were both equally fascinating and the contrasting styles of direction by Robert Rodriguez and Quintin Tarantino stand out. Rodriguez like to kick it into high gear and Tarantino likes to slow the pace and play games with the mind. Both were effective in capturing the spirit of taking an old idea (the grindhouse movies) to see if the newer generation can appreciate like one's parents did at one time.

Stacey26, You tell them to their faces. I get really mad when people rant about leaving the theater at a certain time. It shows they were never really interested in seeing the movies to begin with. not just this movie, but for every other movie as well. They bought the ticket and now they must either enjoy themselves or suffer the consequences. In this case they were never educated in what's the purpose of exploitation films. In a nutshell they were bad and were meant to be bad movies. I think these people should just stick to watching Hallmark Channel movies.

Patty I've been reading the negative reviews and all of these narrow-minded rants have shown no real purpose as to why we should read their reviews. They obviously don't know or understand the motives behind exploitation films or they're just sticklers who waste their time writing and our time reading their pedestrian reviews. They should all just accept what's given to them and shut up about it. Nicely put by the way.

JimF exploitation films were not designed or ever were meant to have anything remotely convincing. I think the reason you were letdown was because you fully don't really understand the concept of the Grindhouse legacy. It's really just to enjoy the movies and to laugh at all the flaws and idiosyncrasies depicted in both movies. I just feel you take these movies way to seriously. These movies are to free your mind and chase your troubles away.

Hey, Wes excellent review. Very informative and wonderfully knowledgeable. I liked how you equally saw and understand the different style of directorial integrity of both Quintin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. The performances were very unique. I liked Death Proof, better because all that is Tarantino is delivered here. I loved the fact that this movie wasn't dependent on CGI and the chase scenes are very well choreographed. Every scenes involving Stuntman Mike was a thrill that never stops. If you're looking for a remarkable suspense thriller I too would advise you to see Death Proof.

Glendale Resident, I assume you like wasting your money like that. But from you walking out of the theater after the second half shows that the review you wrote is a complete null and void. Okay it takes a little patience to get started with Death Proof, but once the bad guy comes into the fray then the climax takes off. If you choose to never see another Quintin Tarantino movie after this, well who's stopping you? Sure the dialogue drags on, but it's because the ladies are just props for Stuntman Mike to go for the highly anticipated kill.

Yes you are correct, patience is the game in Death Proof. It's normal to have low expectations when seeing these kind of movies, But one you digest them, you'll be glad you did. I guess people were disappointed that Death Proof was executed in a slower tempo, but one the action gets into high gear, everyone will be awestruck in the end.

Rolo40, Tarantino may be a pervert, but I thought having the ladies on was actually a pretty cool thing. Death Proof was not a horny man's wet dream movie. I lies more on the surface of a bully who terrorizes pretty ladies for his own personal gain. And when he messed with the wrong set of girls, we all know the lesson that bullies never prosper. Sure the action was less in Death Proof, but the suspense factor was intriguing.

David S, I'm glad you liked both movies and I truly feel that Death Proof was the better of the two, because I can actually sit through the prolonged dialogue. because it was amusing and that the random nonsense was exhibited in all of Quintin Tarantino's movies. And that's what the pivotal build-up for when the life of the party Stuntman mike comes in. It was deliberately put into the movie because until Stuntman Mike we all felt like trying to shut these girls up. But not as barbaric as the way Stuntman Mike shut them up.

CJ A little spell check wouldn't hurt. But I digress, I thought that both Planet Terror and Death Proof demonstrates what gets served in a Grindhouse movie. I wasn't born at the time, but Grindhouse movies were made to be entertaining, oblivious to a tearful emotional drama or something to bag out at Oscar time. It was cheesy, narrow plotted, funny, campy and of course always exciting. Maybe your parents never told you about these movies because even then they thought it was dumb and not worth mentioning. If that's the case, then it shows that these b-movie directors were doing their jobs.

Ratt, it did not do well because no one was able to get what motives lied behind Quintin Tarantino directing. The chatty girls were there for the emphasis of bringing in Stuntman Mike with his killer cars. The random conversations by these divas are the perfect victims for the vicious Mike Stuntman Mike was the star of the party. But he couldn't get the party started if not for the babbling #$%$ Sure it was long before the action takes off, but once it does it's worth the wait.

Adi Gheorghe, did someone threaten you with a gun to watch this movie? No! If you hate Tarantino so much then why do you continually watch his movies? If you really despise Tarantino I suggest you go find yourself another hobby and leave the film reviews up to the more intelligent viewers. Or better yet give us more reasons you hate Quintin Tarantino.

Excellent way to put it, Tadd. The women talking enhances a better understanding of the characters and a better interpretation of what kind of danger lies ahead for them. In the second half we get a contrasting interpretation of what danger lies ahead for the antagonist. But people think it's boring only because the talking was going on too long and the whiners were getting impatient, but I'm glad you held on and further dissected deeper than what other people have written about.
