I enjoyed it for what it was, but;
The Cons: The tension between McClain and his son was weak. The shaky, out of focus, extreme close up cinematography is getting old. This #$%$ started with GI Jane and is now in every action movie made. I guess the simpletons who have chosen cinematography as a career don't realize when you run or jump your eyes and brain don't shake, but they resolve and smooth what we see.
Both Russian bad guys were clowns, and the assistant male Russian was a cartoon. The last action scenes with the Helicopters, and the time at Chernobyl could never have happened.
The Pros: The vehicle the bad guys used at the breakout attempt was a monster that every guy wants. The Unimog that John McClain chased after them in was as close to second as you could get to the first.
The Other Mercedes SUV that McClain chased them with was great in the driving scene (on the top of other vehicles) was a blast. The daughter of the Russian bad guy was very good looking, and was OK in her role.
Also, aside from unbelievable, the gun play was worth watching.
If you go to Die Hard expecting to see Gladiator or Master and Commander, you will be sorely disappointed. If you go to suspend disbelief for a couple hours, you will always have a great time.
