I will start by saying that I don't go to movies in the theatres, well, rarely. And I don't read or watch TV or any other critics because I think they are full of it. They are to movies, what the NCAA is to college football. Useless.
With that in mind, I had never seen Brittany Murphy until, "Girl, Interrupted".
As with most TV commercials, I tune them out. But I do remember hearing that eery call of, "I'll never tellll...", and I figured it was going to be a slasher-type film which I don't care for, so I basically ignored it.
So I was watching this movie and really enjoying it. The relationship between the psychiatrist and Brit's character was riveting. She was so natural that it seemed very real, and the Doctor, very believable, as well. And then I heard that familiar cry, "I'll never tellll..." Anyway...
Angelina Jolie was in it. That's about all I thought of her performance. I guess there was another big name female actress in it because I just read the credits, but the name escapes me.
Brittany Murphy was the show. And the Doctor. It was THAT relationship that mattered to me.
I will now watch "8 mile" because I found out she is in it, and with a big role. I couldn't care less about Eminem, or rap in general, but she will make it worth my while, I'm sure.
It's very sad to me that I will never get to see this young actress come in to the peak of her life and profession. I honestly believe she was to be the next huge female star. Julia Roberts type ability. Very natural in the roll taken, and what more can you say about a professional actor's career?
Very few actors affect me in that I seek them out to watch. DeNiro, Julia Roberts, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, even Steve Martin. But this girl, young lady, will be missed and the movie-watching world, cheated, by having one less superstar in the making, taken from us too, too, soon. God Bless.
