There are several good reasons to see this movie. I want to say from the beginning that there were 2 or 3 scenes that were so violent, I turned my head if I saw it coming. Clearly, some unnecessary violence that could have been left out. Now that the things I didn't like are out of the way - I'll start by praising the performances. Everybody in the gangster squad, Emma, Sean, and even Nick were good. Everything about that era is authentic. There was a little narration at the beginning and the end but I thought it could have been cool to have all the way through and make it more noir style. In the end, this film redeemed itself. The last 20 minutes was all out war, gritty shootout scenes, and very impressive action.
