When Quiz Show came out, it was getting all these rave reviews and hype and I just wondered how a movie about a game show (even with a cover-up) be that interesting and therefore good. I really did not feel like I needed to see it but, for some reason I no longer remember, would up seeing it. After it was over, I kept thinking "what a great movie1" That is EXACTLY the same case as Frost/Nixon.
I am a history buff and I still did not think this movie would be worth seeing. However, it was so well done in every respect (acting, directing, screenplay, editing, etc), I can't say it is anything short of greatness. The real testament to a movie's greatness is the level of empathy (good or bad) that you have with the movie's character throughout the movie and in the end. In Frost/Nixon's case, I totally bought in.
However, if you are one that thrives on typical overdone Hollywood trash (eg "Transformers 2", "Twilight", any Nicolas Cage (other than RA) or Adam Sandler (other than PDL) movie, etc), you might not have the minimum cranial firepower to handle this movie so I would not recommend it.
