For Colored Girls(2010)- User Reviews

Great acting! This movie is an adaptation of a play, but it was poorly adapted. They got great actors to bring the characters alive but the dramatic scenes were forced. They didn't give the audience room to make their own conclusion....every situation was too much! The monologues were long and it got exhausting. The intentions were good in this movie, however it was not done in moderation.

Also, the name "For Colored Girls" would have been more inclusive if there were other "colored" girls portrayed in the film. I understand they have to adapt from a play to a movie, but it was done nearly verbatum. There are some things you can pull off in a play that you can't in a film and they missed that key point. Overall, it was a daring attempt that almost made...but not quite enough.
