Footloose(2011)- User Reviews

When I first heard that they were re-making Footloose I was a bit upset. How could they re-do a classic? That sounded like a crime to us. And then we saw it and it was phenomenal. For anyone to say it came across as cheezy or lame, they must not have seen the original since 1984 because somewhere around 75% of the dialogue is literally word for word from the original or just about word for word. There are a few modifications to the story line but nothing that messes with the movie. The original character of Ariel was "loose", btw. There wasn't any difference between the 1984 character and the 2011 character, they mirrored each other. The original character of Ariel told her father in his church that she wasn't even a virgin, so there was nothing "more trampy" about the 2011 character. It was the same character and she was like many teen girls are when they are looking for love and approval. She wasn't "tramped up" for the 2011 version. WATCH the original....and you will see how closely the 2 movies mirror each other. Hubby and I (who were 17 and 18 in 1984) were very impressed with the re-make!
