Unannounced drug testing is the point here. In real life and in the movie that is what an addict will do..they take a chance not knowing if their number is up that day for testing...Denzel's character gambles every time he does drugs and drinks. Not knowing if he will be tested that day he still takes the risk by chosing to do drugs and drink...places his job on the line becuase he is an addict!!!!!
