The producers must have paid Denzel a boatload of money because he doesn't do interracial loves scenes.
I was thoroughly enjoying the movie until Denzel and his girlfriend in the movie had their argument. I got up and walked out. I felt the language that was used was unnecessary; and I am no prude. I've dropped and F-bomb or 500 in my lifetime.
The movie started out fantastic. The scenes with the pilots flying the plane were breathtaking. John Goodman is great. Don Cheadle and Bruce Greenwood are, too. More of them and less of the girlfriend would have been more to my liking; but she played her role well, too.
I could see them being together and I understand some disfunctionality had to be shown; but the movie had been on a slow dive up until the fight scene and then it crashed and burned in my mind.
I am ambivalent about interracial dating and marriage; but I notice that I am seeing it a lot more in the media. It is like somebody is trying to send a message. That message is not necessarily a good message.
The gratuitous nudity and drug use did not bother me. I like a little gratuitous nudity and drug use in my movies. Even though I walked out of the movie I did not ask for my money back. I think people that ask for their money back are just a bunch of cheapskates, skinflints and tightwads. Hey, you picked the wrong movie. Choose better next time. I walked out of Lord of the Rings after 10 minutes and did not ask for my money back. It did not even cross my mind to ask for my money back.
I probably should have stayed to watch the rest of the movie for more gratuitous nudity and drug use and sophomoric jokes that other reviews allude to; but I felt at the time that It would be time wasted that I would never get back.
I, too, expected a different film--not the Debbie Downer this movie had morphed into by the time I decided to leave.
