I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. The crash scene was powerful, but I'm not afraid of flying. Denzel was fabulous as always! His portrayal of an alcoholic/addict was spot on! If you've struggled with addiction (yours or a loved one's), it will strongly touch you. I loved the way it showed God's influence in the world, free will and the interplay between the two. Great movie that made me laugh, cry and left me really thinking.
