A depressing and uninspiring story of an alcoholic
I if was to sum up the main message of this film it would be that alcoholics never prosper. The film is the sad and uninspiring story of a promiscuous, drug addicted, alcoholic who in a moment of clarity saves the lives of 96 people and then continues along the road to self destruction. The first scene in the hotel room with its gratuitous use of nudity and drug use does not add to the character of the film, but gives a romantic vision of the hedonistic existence of this man that runs contrary to the message of the rest of the film. When The film finally reaches its inevitable conclusion most people have guessed how the film ends and are so sick of the main characters selfish self destructive behavior we simply don’t care what happens, we just want the film to end.
