its a great movie

..a little too realistic for me but great - as I sat next to my husband whose been a cop for 20 years in a neighborhood similar to the one protrayed in the movie, I got scared all over again. I tend to forget what he does every night while I'm home watching "true crime" shows.

The story revolves around the friendship of Jake Gyllenhal and Michael Pena as cops in LA - it is fast, the dialogue is dead on. I mean I hear how my husband and his team talk to each other - accurate is the word. The guy that supposedly has a chip on his shoulder ( I can't remember the characters name) is so true to life - the littlest thing can get you in trouble when you're a cop. People who do not know cops intimtately, because before I met my husband I didn't know this, aren't aware that one little complaint can send them into many confrontations with Internal Affairs, etc.

The people they deal with hate their guts and scenes with them running and never knowing if people are going to come out the back the sides the front are unfortunately true.

Without giving away too much, Jake and Michael( I forget their names in the movie) get involved in something they really shouldn't have and it sets off a tailspin of problems. I looked to my husband and he shrugged saying, that's what happens when you get involved in something you shouldn't - he said it was accurate. I believe him and though he's a detective now after watching this I made him PROMISE me he will never take the Sargeants test - after this there is NO WAY he's going back on the street. I will have a heart attack.

A little to close to home for me...I still can't stop thinking about it - I've been lulled into false confidence because of the amount of years my husbands been on the job and I know my review is bleeding into my own real life but that's how for real this movie is...if you wanna see a good, for real cop movie - see End of Watch.

And I do admit I cared about the characters....which is hard to do with a movie so all in all I can't find much wrong with it - if anything...
