I don't know how this movie slipped through the cracks. Might be the best cop movie I've seen. Acting was perfect. The relationship between the two cops, credible. The story line , a day on the streets of South LA, believable.
Gyllenhall gave a smooth, credible performance. The everyman cop. Human.
Pena (in my view a very under rated actor) just pressed credibility. His humanity and loyalty to his partner made both matter more.
The relationship between these two patrol cops through incredible risks, raised the movie to a very special level.
The camera work might be the only part I could live without. The hand held camera gimmick was done and done early in the movie.
Regardless, this is a stunningly good movie. You'll be off your seat more than once. The ending...well, enjoy the movie.
