Eastern Promises(2007)- User Reviews

When I knew that Viggo Mortensen and director David Cronenberg have teamed up again, I had the feeling that the movie will, in some way, follow the same pattern of "A history of violence", and I was right.

Once again Cronenberg does an amazing job in directing, you will get the feeling of the environment when you watch this film, and I have to say, Viggo's performance is definitely his best so far, it's so amazing that you could swear that the guy is Russian Mafia, really applauded, Armin Mueller-Stahl's performance is very good too, it's a shame that Naomi Watts didn't have the space for creativity, nothing wrong with her performance though.
The story's good, not great though, the ending is a bit unsatisfying.

However, the movie was lacking in two aspects: Editing and Choreography, for some reason the producers picked the same editors of "A history of violence", the guys are good, but they are just unable to create action sequences, the same mistakes that I saw in "A history of violence" I saw in "Eastern promises", and this does not exclude sound effects, the same problem, sound effects are so unbelievable, it's like an action movie from the 80's.

But then again, if you have doubts on whether to see it or not, then I have to say, Viggo's performance alone is worth your time and money.
