Hey Sparky....you got a Dad like that, too? haven't even talked to mine for 10 years. Cynical, argumentative Debbie Downer. Life's too short. surround yourself with people who don't steal your Joy!

If you had bothered to read the book beforehand you wouldn't have been surprised. Perhaps the book was too long to tackle?

Hey get this irony folks! Dr. Seuss sold 500 million books through 2004 that translates to approx 329,000 trees chopped down. Oops!!

wow you're a complete idiot. you haven't even read the book and you're freaking out about the storyline? granted, it doesn't quite fully follow the book, but it's not like you'd really know that, huh? this obviously is a children's book, hence a children's movie. if you can't appreciate that, then don't go fricken watching a children's movie!

I had a dad like you. Could never stop spewing his hateful ideology. As a kid I was embarrassed to be around him. Now as an adult I finally have a choice and I chose not to associate with him and his hate. He sits in his house alone, angry and hateful. Complaining to anyone who is unfortunate enough to have to listen to him. He has no friends. His children and grandchildren avoid him. But he knows he is right and the rest of us are a bunch of idiots. Say hello to your future.

Please do research and do not rely on TV networks for all of your information.

Sparky, you are the one I feel sorry for - not your dad. Unless you are 19, which is understandable, its very sad that you're "bragging" about letting your dad be alone and miserable. If you're actually an adult you could make a difference in his life and be a good son.

Also, maybe he's not as crazy as you think - maybe you should start listening instead of getting all your news from TMZ!

excuse me ppl but i myself am a 16 year old man, i understand ur thoughts toward the movie but when it all boils down to it. if you shelter ur child from the "conspiracies" then they grow up naive. but if you tell them they grow up paranoid. and dnt say "oh my child not going to grow up like that" but hw do u kno. the child's mind is the most purest of things and to be tampered with by the parents by some forced conspiracy theory. i have nt lived long as most of you, but i notice something about civilization. people in fact are scared of change. and the conspiracy theory you so proudly claim is in the moive, is that change that ppl are paranoid due to something new nd broad to a childs mind.

Dude...at 16 years old you are NOT a man...you are a child. I would hate to be your parents with you having that mentality, i'm sure you think you know everything.

If someone is telling you why do Hollywood all have hidden political agenda, is for you to wake up and do something about it and stop been ignorant and stupid!!!

I am glad children just like enjoying an animated movie without thinking politics.

I suppose one can argue the following:
Monsters Inc was also about Corporate Greed.
Sponge Bob...Mr. Crab is obviously a Capitalist.
Tom and Jerry and Road Runner cartoons promote violence.
Iron Giant.... Threat of Nuclear war.
A Christmas Carol like most Dickens was anti Business.
Scrooge against the working family? Class warfare?
Anything about saving a Tree, an Owl a whale or Dolphin is leftist?
When was the last time you were a kid?
My guess is not since Ole Yeller.
    Now you have become one.

Let kids just enjoy the movies as kids..... while they can.
There will be plenty of time for adult conspiracy theories on the Right and Left later.

Yeah I see where you're coming from...but I also think that kids should be aware of some of these things. When we grew up in ignorance, we became ignorant adults- should we continue our own downward spiral or do something that will help prepare our children for the future. There are a lot of movies out there that make children more aware of their world. Ferngully was about cutting down the rainforests. Princess Mononoke was about people encroaching on wild areas. Your not going to be pointing out any of these themes to young children but as a teacher and a mother I think that this is a great introduction to some important topics. And it would make a really good movie to show in school for older kids and start studying ecology.

I like your post. It reminds me when I was a kid watching the Smurfs, my mom said the Smurfs promote communism. Being a kid you didn't see it that way. The Lorax movie is, what it is. I read the book as a child and saw the original cartoon of the Lorax. It was pretty much the same message, no propaganda about it. People who post that, should read the book and watch the original cartoon first. It's about conserving our resources, a message that is just as vital now as it was then.

Helping the kids be aware is a good thing to help them not blindly follow propaganda that is based on distortions. This movie clearly demonizes the chopping down of even one tree. I like that it teaches to replant. Capitalism is a way to reward hard work. Managing forests rather than destroying them helps everyone. There are more forests / trees in the U.S. today than 100 years ago in addition to tree farms. Leftists are the ones gathering in huge cement cities while they accuse the rest of us of what they are doing.

It's a great American tradition to have a healthy debate on issues, but once you drop the "teabagger" thing into a post, you're looked at as a simpleton with no facts and nothing to bring to the table, certainly not a person to be taken seriously. Don't people know this? If I started a post by calling people "commies", I'd fully expect to be ignored. Do what you will, just saying...

You're all a bunch of idiots! Just watch the movie with whoever (don't read anything into it) and enjoy it for what it is.....a movie!!! Look at what politics is doing to us?! We're turning on one another. You're letting politics control you! Get ahold of yourselves ppl! All of you...grow up. If this is what life is all about, I'm glad I'm on my way out!!

Those of you posting reviews about Hollywood brain-washing need to go read the book. If you have a problem with the message blame Dr. Seuss, not Hollywood. The movie follows the book very closely. Hollywood didn't add anything.
