I'm not really sure what all the criticism is about regarding this movie. It's a movie! You're supposed to be able to sit there in the dark for an hour or two and be entertained, this movie does just that! You want historical accuracy and facts down to the nano-level? Watch PBS or the History Channel!! Hell, I've got the Ken Burns Civil War series somewhere, maybe you can borrow it.
Anyway, about the movie. Tarantino hits all the buttons for movie making: Great visuals, nice panoramas, meaningful closeups and a decent story. Yeah, it was a little violent and gory, but come on, this IS a spaghetti Western of sorts.
All in all, a good film. The writing was pretty good and I was glad to see the Tarantino touch with actual, meaningful dialogue was still intact. The only reason I didn't rate this movie 5 stars is because I hated to see the Dr's untimely demise.
Great job Quentin! Don't let your critics deter you from making movies like this in the future.
