Jamie Foxx, Christopher Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio did an excellent job at playing their roles in the movie. I really enjoyed how the director made Django as a strong individual. In the beginning when Django was first tied up being sold into slavery in the cold night or hot desert he did not lose spirit. This movie might be an exaggeration of how life was back then in the horrific time of our country but in reality it was much worse. Slaves were put into humiliating moments everyday. Like in the movie when they were wiped, feed to dogs or put in life threatening moments to survive. I also disdained the way of the southern slave owners and how they believed they were so mighty. Christopher Waltz character Dr. Schultz showed that not everyone had the mind set of hating slaves and were open minded to ending slavery because it was inhuman. The ending was the best part because Django finally shed the past and was able to move forward. Django was smart, strong and good natured who in the movie showed he was more human then others.
The main topic of this movie is slavery and it showed alot of the treatment of blacks. We can see how thought and habits were implanted and how degraded they were treated . Samuel L. Jackson character was one that abandoned his own race to satisfy his master. He threw people under the bus, giving them harsh punishments. This movie shows that slave owners but also all who had this mindset created the violence that made Django respond with such murderous acts.
In today's time many may say that blacks are the cause of many crimes and it has nothing to do with racism. People are afraid of the potential that have to do harm but we can see that the long history of our nation the treatment of people have caused reaction and anger to be held within and expressed at a breaking point with violence. People who have watched this movie say that its just a black man going around killing people but that not what he is doing. He is going around having vengeance on those who have murdered, slaved and humiliated his people.
