Deliverance(1972)- User Reviews

I was expecting a chilling movie experience when I caught this film on TCM on night. I was expecting to be at the edge of my seat in suspense and instead got "The River Wild" with a splash of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". It was just okay. Not scary. Not enough happening. Too slow paced. The creepiest scene is the beggining where a man banjo plays with a weird looking hillbillie. But alas, aside a brutal rape scene, "Deliverance" has little action and mostly over-done passages with nothing going on. I am very disappointed because I was anticipating this movie for a long time. Burt Reynolds, Jon Voight and Ned Beatty are the only bright spots here, all giving good performances. But the story is flawed and not scary enough. Atleast not to me. You be the judge.
