The cinematic style was impressive as it was taken on location in South Carolina. The blend of serene sceneries contrasted to the shots in the battle fields was eye-catching. John was a kind soldier and his gesture to befriend an Afghan boy was a comfort - because he kept his childhood within him. The unsettled conflict with his father made him like he was still a child within him. The scene when he cried and was touched by the dying father was so dramatic, because it was meaningful for a child abandoned by his moher to get answer and comforted. His passion to Savannah and hers to him was so fresh and beautiful and the happy ending was so relieving.
