Raised in East Germany, Brasch spent two years in prison after protesting the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia. A noted dramatist, he moved to West Berlin in 1976 and has since written and directed three assured features.
Brasch's films have examined the lives of stage actors ("Domino" 1981) and expatriate film directors ("Welcome to Germany" 1988), often from a political perspective. See Full Thomas Brasch Biography
