Christian Camargo

The son of daytime diva Victoria Wyndham (Rachel on "Another World"), Christian Camargo landed his first Broadway role just out of drama school and his career has continued to gain momentum. Tall and lanky, with dark brooding looks, he has proven effective in both classical and contemporary roles. While he had regional theater credits on his resume, Camargo was a virtual unknown when he was tapped to co-star with Michael Gambon and Lia Williams in the New York premiere of David Hare's "Skylark" in 1996. The following year, he was a member of the company that opened the new Globe Theater in London, appearing in "A Chaste Maid in Cheapside" and Shakespeare's "Henry V". (The latter was taped and broadcast on PBS' "Great Performances"). While in England, he filmed a small role in the swashbuckling entertainment "Plunkett and Macleane" (1999). Returning to the USA in 1998, he landed a recurring role on the CBS daytime serial "Guiding Light"; perhaps not ironically, his mother had landed her first major daytime part on the same show some thirty years earlier.

Camargo next landed a co-starring role in the independent drama "The Story of a Bad Boy" (1999), playing a college student on whom a male high schooler forms a crush. Returning to the stage, The actor portrayed Lord Byron in the Williamstown Theatre Festival 1999 production of "Camino Real" and was Horatio to Liev Schrieber's "Hamlet" the following year. Camargo traveled to the West Coast to co-star in the world premiere of Robert Glaudini's "The Poison Tree", playing a leather jacket-clad drifter. He enjoyed his best stage role, however, as the title character in "Kit Marlowe" in the 2000 Off-Broadway show. From his stunning entrance in the nude through to the final scene, the handsome actor dominated the stage as the wild Elizabethan author Christopher Marlowe.

In 2002, Camargo landed a supporting role in the submarine movie "K-19: The Widowmaker" starring Harrison Ford. This exposure led to Camargo's name being tossed around various "man of the moment" lists and the word was out that Camargo was one to keep an eye on.
