Lita Stantic

Lita Stantic is a successful executive producer who began her cinematic career as a director. She began making short films in the mid '60s, but then began pursuing her career in advertising. Even though she was busy earning a living, Stantic did not lose her love of cinema and remained active in the Cine Liberacion (an underground production and distribution collective that secretly shows films that would have otherwise been banned). During the politically tumultous '70s, Stantic steadily worked on over a dozen films including Alejandro Doria's La isla (1978), which was the first Argentine film to be a box-office hit during the dictatorship. During the '80s, Stanti began collaborating with director Maria Luisa Bemberg as an executive director. She then established GEA Cinematografica, her own production company. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
