Italian filmmaker Eduardo de Filippo directed, co-wrote, and appeared in all of his films of the late '50s through the mid '60s. Born Eduardo Passarelli, he is the son of Neopolitan actors, and got his own start at age 13 when he joined Eduardo Scarpetta's Neapolitan troupe.
