Memorable in films by Gillo Pontecorvo ("Kapo" 1960), Luis Bunuel ("The Milky Way" 1969) and Jean-Luc Godard ("Detective" 1982), and as the embittered but enlightened presumptive father in "Rouge Baiser" (1985).
