Rae Dawn Chong

First earned attention with her role as an Ice Age woman in Jean-Jacques Annaud's prehistoric epic, "Quest for Fire" (1981). Chong won a Genie (the Canadian Oscar) for her performance, which involved speaking a special language devised by novelist Anthony Burgess. She has since displayed a gift for wisecracking, offbeat characterizations in more contemporary settings. Daughter of comedian Tommy Chong (of "Cheech and Chong" fame); married at one time to actor C Thomas Howell with whom she co-starred in "Soul Man" (1986).
