Tall, emerald-eyed supermodel-turned-actress, who won notice as the cover girl of the famous 25th annual swimsuit issue of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED in 1989. Ireland made her acting debut in "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1986), played two aliens in "Alien's from L.A." (1988) and appeared in the sports-related films "Side Out" (1990) and "Mr. Destiny" (1991) and was featured as the sole female kicker on an all-male team in the football comedy "Necessary Roughness" (1991). In addition to continuing her modeling career (appearing in over a dozen SPORTS ILLUSTRATED swimsuit issues), she has alternated between an acting career and one as a fitness consultant. Ireland appeared in a recurring role as a woman of mystery on the Fox primetime serial "Melrose Place" in 1994 and more recently acted in such film comedies as "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1" (1993) and "Back Fire!" (1995), a spoof of Ron Howard's "Backdraft" (1991). A perennial calendar favorite, Ireland has also focused on physical fitness, serving as a consultant on the ESPN-2 series "Body Shaping" and issuing her own work-out videos.
As Ireland phased herself out of the inevitably short-lived life of a supermodel, she laid out a solid foundation for her future. She became a successful business woman, as CEO and Chief Designer of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, her billion dollar company which began be designing socks. In addition to running her successful company, Ireland is involved in numerous charity organizations and in 2002 wrote the book "Powerful Inspirations - 8 Lessons That Will Change Your Life."
