Richard Attenborough
A short, and later chunky, star character performer since the 1940s, Richard Attenborough made a transition to the director's chair in the late 60s. He won Oscars for directing and producing "Gandhi" (1982), but as an actor may be better known to American audiences for playing the brains behind "The Great Escape" (1963) and the millionaire builder of "Jurassic Park" (1993).
