First, you don't really have to see "The Collector" to appreciate and understand this movie. Neither movie really explains the motive of the collector. Early on in the movie, the viewer is provided news narrative about the collector, and that's as much background as you need. How he selects his collection, no one knows for sure. Why he collects...if you watch the movie, there are hints, but the collector never has a dialogue to explain his actions. He's a deranged guy that seems to be good in hand-to-hand fighting and knows how to set up booby-traps. All that's left to do is lower your expectations for reality, as you would have to do with just about any action movie in which the hero seems to be impervious to pain or gunshot wounds, and enjoy the ride. This movie is fast and intense, and the viewer does not suffer a dull moment. If this isn't for you, perhaps you'll do better with another movie remake, or an 80's TV series turned into a movie. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've never watched as few movies as I did in 2012!
