Just viewed Cloud Atlas and left feeling deeply moved by a movie that I, personally, found profund. The stories do finally come to a nexus and are tied up, but you have to view it all and even then there are questions just as there are in life. The filming was well done, the music haunting, at times the action violent - yet that is part of life too, the acting incredible, the costuming appropriate to the movie, and overall a brillant piece of work. Provocative in its concepts and view points. The lenght is not too long, I was never bored and it challenged one's thinking processes. You have to let the story unravel itself. If you like car chases and cartoon type movies, this one is not for you, although there is a chase scene.
The lingo of the future Tom Hanks character was distracting and the make up on some of the characters in that scenario was over the top. This is about the only quibblle that I have about the movie.
If you want to see something different, unique and moving then this one is for you. It has nothing to do with political affiliation and really not about gender either unless you choose to bring it to the table. It is about what choices we make, about what happens to people and the possibilities of the human condition. It is about how we connect in time and space. It was interesting and worth the price of a movie ticket.
